What is GLOWLAND?

GLOWLAND, is a dazzling fusion of artistry and illumination brought to you by the Oakland Improvement Business District (OBID), in the heart of Oakland’s innovation district. Throughout the season GLOWLAND will present dynamic lighting and art installations by local and national designers, offer signature events and activities for all ages, and showcase the diverse offerings of Oakland’s businesses and retailers.

Is it free to attend GLOWLAND?

Most GLOWLAND events and activities are free to attend! There is one ticketed event, Glow Ball, but other than that all GLOWLAND events are all-ages, free and open to the public.

Is GLOWLAND accessible?

All GLOWLAND events and activities are accessible.

Is GLOWLAND rain or shine?

GLOWLAND is rain, shine, sun, or snow. Since most activities and events take place outside, be sure to check the weather and dress appropriately for the elements.

When is GLOWLAND?

GLOWLAND runs from November 22, 2024 through December 14, 2024. There are a variety of one day featured events but you can check out any of the installations, including GLOWLAND’s signature installations including: the interactive LED Swings at Forbes Digital Plaza, Love Glow by Naomi Chambers, two stunning displays by Ian Brill, and Dippy’s iconic glow up by ProjectileObjects. Is GLOWLAND all ages?

Every event, except for Glow Ball which is 21+, is all ages.

Are GLOWLAND activities and events indoors or outdoors?

Most GLOWLAND activities, events, and installations take place outside throughout Oakland.

Where should I park for GLOWLAND?

There is metered street parking all throughout Oakland. There are a number of parking garages including Soldiers and Sailors Parking Garage located at 4390 Bigelow Boulevard, Forbes Semple Garage at 210 Meyran Avenue, and Sennott Square Garage, located at 207 S. What are the closest bus stops to the featured events & installations?

There is metered If you are coming from downtown the closest bus stops to Schenley Plaza are Forbes Ave. and The Hillman Library. If you are coming from the east side (Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, etc..) the nearest bus stop is Fifth Ave/Bigelow Boulevard.
